Monitor is slightly larger than the Mirror
-
Hello everyone!
I’ve recently started my smart mirror build and I’m using an Asus vg248qe monitor which is 24 inches across, with 12.5 by 22. I bought a 12 x 22 glass and made the mistake of not double checking my measuring of the monitor the first time. I’m now kind of stumped on how and if I could a frame work into these dimensions since the monitor’s bezzles sticks out on the sides of the glass. The actual panel itself fully fits into the mirror. Am I just out of luck?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

@el69909 usually u will remove the bezel to get the monitor against the glass

So this little silver part in the corners is what’s making this wider than what I had anticipated, from checking looks like either way I won’t be able to shave off any length as it’s part of the entire screen

@el69909 yeh, that’s the frame. not gonna be able to remove that

So, build your “box” to cover the edges of the monitor and the first 1/4" of the glass edges. Problem solved.

Get some sort of small quarter round type molding or use router and cut slot in frame pieces.

I’ve found that chair rail molding is a good source for easy decorative front facing. It takes a stain well and the pattern is good for hiding nail heads and other imperfections.
