<![CDATA[Go Big ! Samsung TV]]>Hi all,

So i finished my first project and want to go bigger. Let’s say BIG!.
I have a spare Samsung 46" TV (UE46ES6340)

With my first project i managed to get the screen to go into sleep mode and wake up with a PIR sensor.
This big boy doesn’t want that.

I know, ofcourse it’s a tv. So when there is no signal it just says “There is no signal”
Is there, or does anyone know of a way, to put the TV into stand-by if the signal drops and turn it back on when there is signal on the HDMI port (it has CEC+ support)

I will. But at the moment it’s turned sideways on a bed ;)
The screen res. of this monitor is 1920x1080 which is the same as the monitor i have so there is no extra space. It’s just that my parents can read it :P

When all is finished and i like it, it might swap it for a 4K monitor to add some more features into it.

I could get a 50" for about $4-500.

The relay/scripts solution just works without any issues.
So it seems the CEC solution is good for the Pi4 but on a Pi3 the relay solution is better.

as I’ve said a few times (maybe 50), my CEC compliant tv will turn on but not off. only on a pi 4.

Thanks for helping!. I like the ideas.
After some searching i found something interesting!.

At this page they have a tutorial for using HDMI-CEC.
Following this tutorial it was exactly what i was looking for.

Except the time the TV needs to start it works like a champ :)

The second is that there are remote apps for cell phones. So there is also a Samsung TV network remote control protocol. This could also be used to control the TV. On Github, you can find some information about TCP/IP connections with “samsung remote”.

Or, if the TV turns on automatically once it gets power from the wall, you could use the relay to turn on/cut off electricity to the TV. I use the latter for my mirror.

There is an excellent guide by @cruunnerr here including wiring and scripts. Have a look.
