      Hey guys!

I built a few magic mirrors in the past (and posted them here). This time I wanted to build one that’s a bit more accessible. In other words, I wanted to create a step-by-step guide that anybody could use to build their own magic mirror without the need for special tools or skills (such as woodworking, soldering, etc.)

I was able to accomplish this goal using the Pi-Top CEED and the Google AIY Voice Kit. And, of course, I wanted to include some sort of voice assistant. I have a lot of experience with the Raspberry Pi and Alexa (I made this creepy Furby, if you’ve seen it around). This time I wanted to learn how to run Google Assistant on a Pi. Setting up Google’s voice assistant was night-and-day simpler than integrating Amazon’s.

Anyways, here’s the full link to my Google Home Magic Mirror guide. There’s also a demonstration video in there.

Let me know what you think! 🙂

@sdetweil Yeah the Pi-Top is pretty neat! It’s a bit cheaper to make your own enclosure and add your own screen/power button, but not by much… It really depends on how much time you want to spend on those parts.
