@Arthur: The costs, used parts and main challenges I experienced when building my smart mirror are now updated on my blog on

RE: MMM-Globe
@Eunanibus
Thanks for you tips. I could easily adjust the module to react to Notifications. I made a pull Request with the latest changes.
Would be so kind to merge them?!I also adjusted my module MMM-GoogleAnalytics to provide the coordinates of the website visitors location.
The module is in a very early state but it’s quite impressive to see it’s working . See for yourself:
https://youtu.be/xOU1pVOgcTYBad side of the story?
I have to get rid of the Raspberry Pi 3 in my MagicMirror. But hey, it was already to long in a “completed” state. :)@bhepler : You were running this module smoothly on your mirror. What hardware did you use?

RE: Send Notification from one module to another module
It seemed the
sender
is now a object not only a string with several properties. Therefore this code snippet has changed a little bysender
tosender.name
:notificationReceived: function(notification, payload, sender){ if(notification === "NEW_STUFF" && sender.name === "modula"){ //handle the payload: {foo: "bar"} } }

RE: Where to begin for module making?
I can highly recommend to use the MagicMirror-Module-Template. It has already build in some of the most common features modules need.
There samples of code for:- External request
- Config parameters
- Custom URL path route
- Passing of messages (NOTIFICATIONS)
In addition it’s builds the framework for your module by running a script.

RE: stronger Raspberry Pi 3 Alternatives
@cowboysdude
I just updated the summary post, could you please check, if there is everything correct?! -
RE: A thin MM with metal frame, hidden IR camera and 32" Inch HDTV
I’m planning to upgrade the RasperryPi3 with a stronger board, to get several powerful module run able at the same time.
If you have gained some experience with an alternative, please share in this topic. -
RE: stronger Raspberry Pi 3 Alternatives
@cowboysdude
Thanks for your answer.
Could you please share a link which mini itx board board you’re exactly using? -
stronger Raspberry Pi 3 Alternatives
Several modules like the ones for face recognition, speech recognition or even streaming from webcams bring the Raspberry Pi 3 to it’s performance limits by max out it’s memory and cpu. I found some older topics where several alternatives where named. Unfortunately those post were abandoned like half a year ago and really hard to read, due to the overlapping conversations.
I really want to find a powerful alternative to the Pi3. Perhaps the experienced builders can briefly share what they have done for experience with your alternatives. I think the following criteria are interesting.
Everybody else please don’t forget to up vote the contributions of those who share.

RE: MMM-Globe
This module is amazing! Some thoughts about this:
-
I’m sure many overlook this topic because it is not classified into one of the subcategories, like all other modules, as one would expect. I believe this piece of art deserves the full attention!
@administrators Is it possible to shift the module to Utilities? -
I really would like to use this module for showing real time data from other modules, by using Notifications. E. g. location data from website visitors with MMM-GoogleAnalytics.
@Eunanibus Is it possible to add location data to the globe while it’s already animated?
