How I got my Magic Mirror working on a Raspberry Pi 0 (zero)
-
Hey!
Try this link to a disc image from Andrius:So there is my MM image with Chromium for Raspberry Pi Zero W

Cheers

@Mikgabo Should I flash this to the SD card on my pi?
-
@greenwaydev
I did, worked great for me. -
Awesome! Last question. Do I have to remove the other things I have put on the SD card in my pi? Like everything other than raspbian and jessie? Im kind of new to this stuff
-
@greenwaydev
So what I did was format the sd card and use win32 disc imager to flash the sd card, put it my my Pi Zero and it worked.
After install I got rid of some stuff via the config file as I didn’t want all that stuff on my MM.
Cheers! -
Changed the display_rotate setting back to 0 but the display is still turned. Any suggestions?
-
@greenwaydev
Did you reboot? -
@Mikgabo I unplugged the pi, removed the SD, and changed the rotate setting. Then, I put it back in and plugged the pi back in.
-
@greenwaydev I’m thinking you aren’t making the adjustment in the right location (possibly).
Try this from terminal:
sudo nano /boot/config.txtand add the following to the file. Where you add it doesn’t really matter:
# Rotate display virtically display_rotate=0 -
@greenwaydev After you insert that text save it by ctrl + x, then y and enter
-
the type the command:
sudo reboot -
@greenwaydev Here is a great tutorial that can help you learn your way around MM.
https://forum.magicmirror.builders/topic/236/complete-setup-tutorial/6I would recommend, once you get your MM configured the way you like to make a back up of it using win32 disk imager (make sure .img is on the end of the file or it won’t save as a disc image). That way if you mess up your SD card somehow you have a back up to use.

I used the image that was posted a few comments back. I can NOT for the life of me get the wireless to connect. I have followed every guide I can find and it will not connect. I have tried DHCP and static. I’m out of ideas.

@justindp2006 Had the same issue. Couldnt find the fix anywhere
-
@justindp2006 so you followed the guide and entered you ssid and password?
You could try the terminal commandsudo raspi-configAnd set up wifi via the on screen menu.
Failing that u could set up a wpa supplicant file and insert it in your sd card

@greenwaydev sorry that post was kinda screwed as I made it on my phone the command was
sudo raspi-config -

I understood :) I tried that earlier and again and there is no networking options under it?

Tried. Think it’s time to toss in the towel. Hours lost to this project. It would be one thing if I was new to all of this or ignorant to programming or pis in general. I just don’t understand and there are no clues. Thanks for the replies.

OK, so I haven’t confirmed it on this package but was having the SAME EXACT issue with an octoprint setup for my printer. Anyhow I ran
sudo iwlist wlan0 scanand it sees my network. Here is the kicker though. My network shows up like "MyNetworkHere ". There is a space between MyNetworkHere and the ". I added the space, saved and rebooted and it immediately connected. Hope this helps someone.
