55" Bedroom Mirror
-
@barnosch about $460 but mostly bc I live in the U.K. It would have been a lot cheaper without all the shipping costs. Maybe around $300
-
@Manick Where did you purchase the mirror glass? Can you tell us the URL?
-
@Sean from https://www.twowaymirrors.com
I went with acrylic because it was a lot cheaper and less likely to break in transit.
-
@Manick Wow, Always I’ve heard Acrylic is not such a good to make MM, but yours looks not so bad. How about your mind? Is it enough for real usage in your home?
-
@Sean I’ve been using it everyday as an everyday mirror without issue. Obviously glass would be a little better but I’d say the acrylic is perfectly usable.
-
@Sean - I used Acrylic for my mirror & I would add that you have to do something to ensure that the surface is completely flat. I sized my acrylic to fit inside the bezel of the monitor (rather than removing it). Therefore as the acrylic isn’t exactly the same thickness as the bezel it means there is a slight gap between the top of the acrylic & the frame.
I assume that the acrylic came on a roll at the factory, as mine has a definite curve to it. This means the mirror isn’t perfectly flat inside the frame. The result is not too bad, but does have a slight ‘fun house’ feel to it. Other than that the acrylics are not bad for the money.
@Manick’s mirror does look awesome though & with that size I assume they’ve made sure its completely flat.

What extra electronics did you add? And what modules did you use for the calendar and weather? They look great.
-
@nissin I couldn’t get any motion sensor app to work properly so I have two plugs coming out of the mirror. One powers the pi which is always on and the other goes into a motion sensing plug that turns the monitor on when someone is in the room. No other added Electricals although I will probably put a philips hue light strip around the inside of the frame. Calendar module is just the standard one and the weather is the weather underground module which I really like.
