I tried the above as suggested but get this error now:

Try ‘chown --help’ for more information. -

like this notice the dash - in front of the rsudo chown -R pi ~/.npm -

Now getting this when I try to update.

but the package.json maybe

git diff package.jsonto see what was changed.
