Note since it is an important comment, but I am using a converted laptop LCD driven by this controller board which requires 12V DC with 3+ A.

I am just chiming in to confirm that I had the same issue and to provide a clear resolution for future reference.
The problem was that Motion was creating a webcontrol element on the same port as Magic Mirror. This resulted in a black screen (the motion HTML file) showing the camera top of my monitor display instead of Magic Mirror.
To fix this, edit /etc/motion/motion.conf and change the 8080 port entry to something else, like 8181.

Which power option is preferable?
I’m in the UK so a 240V country. For most compact mirror builds, we won’t be able to house an entire AC power strip in the mirror.
As I understand it, in order to power an LCD monitor (12V, 3-4A) and a Raspberry Pi 4, our two options are:
- Option 1: Two separate AC to DC power supplies
