I’m in the UK so a 240V country. For most compact mirror builds, we won’t be able to house an entire AC power strip in the mirror.

As I understand it, in order to power an LCD monitor (12V, 3-4A) and a Raspberry Pi 4, our two options are:

    • Option 1: Two separate AC to DC power supplies

    • Option 2: Single 240V to 12V power supply then buck convertor from 12V DC to 5V DC

    Which option is preferable?

Note since it is an important comment, but I am using a converted laptop LCD driven by this controller board which requires 12V DC with 3+ A.

I use option 2. So I have only one cable on the wall to the mirror. In my case 19V DC and behind the monitor is the buck converter for the 5V of the Raspberry Pi 4.

@macg I’ve got a version of Option 1. I used a 3-port extension cord and used a child safety cover as a ‘mount’ for the cord. Then there are two outlets on one side - one for the monitor PS and one for the Pi4 PS (which is an Anker 5V/3A wall wart type).Screen Shot 2021-08-20 at 1.08.25 PM.png
