how to show NPR RSS feed content tag?

I’d like my news feed to include elements of the content tag (example item below). I assume I would have to create my own version of the newsfeed module and make the appropriate changes. Is that the correct solution?

@gvaeth correct. The module would need to be modified to support the content tag
