Where did the sandbox fix go?

I found several links to sandbox is not supported problems from a few years ago but none of them have the text or links or options still there for fixing the issue.
I’m running, or rather trying and failing to, run magic mirror on banana pi M2 berry with Diet-pi as the os. The only available image from what I can find with a desktop image.
I’m getting the electron_main_delegate.cc(288)] running as root without --no-sandbox is not supported error
I’ll be the first to admit Google has become COMPLETELY worthless in looking up coding solutions but I’m 7 hours in and don’t see any available options at this point -

or edit the package.json and add
--no-sandboxto the electron launch parms of the appropriate launch script
