@cheapdad u can still turn off the hdmi output… the monitor might show ‘no input’… which mine do…

so I went to blanking (hide all modules)…

    How do you do that?

@cheapdad no. our signals software. there are three different ways

I’m sorry but I don’t understand this at all.

No, the PIR sensor does not use HDMI-CEC?

What signals software are you referring to?

What are the 3 different ways?

        @cheapdad sorry, typo.

phone didn’t like the word PIR

        pir is a heat sensor
it signals, heat, and then no heat. that is all.
software has to make intelligent work from that

the PIR modules see heat, and turns ON the display
they see no heat, and some time later turns OFF the display

actually 4 ways to turn on/off the display/source, all commands u can issue

        tvservice
        vcgencmd
        dpms
and the latest to turn off the display
        cec-utils

many of the pir modules allow you to choose which approach u want to use.

some people are unable to use any of those (me)

so I wrote a module to hide the modules

@cheapdad and there two more ways, that need software

you can control a switch/relay that turn the power off /on to the display, for those monitors that don’t have internal controls that prevent this. (my monitors do not come back on after a power failure)

and you can modify the logic of the didplay with a relay/switch to turn on/off the backlight of the display. so the display is powered on, but not active

@cheapdad , in my mirrors the PIR sensor stop the display of the modules but the monitor continues to work, it display a black screen.

@george all of my moniors display ‘no input’, some have blue background, some red…
all go to power off after 15 minutes of no input (and the ugly screen)

two of my monitors also power off when I hide all the modules… so one solution I have is a 1 second wake up every 14 minutes and 58 seconds…
