PSA: DarkSky shuts down Jan 1st. expect broken weather
-
@mattkab Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give it a try.
-
@FlatPepsi - To be fair, DarkSky has been pushing that date back every so often. I think originally it was going to terminate on 1 December 2022.

Found an article that there is a developer who is providing a replacement api for darksky which is called Pirate Weather.
If i read correctly it should be a plugin-in replacement for Darksky and only the URLs in the modules need to be changed as the same data structures are used.
As i do not use any Darksky modules i did not test it but i found it interesting and it might be worth looking at it. -

can you open an issue on github for this?
The darksky api is already removed on
develop
but it should be discussed if we use this replacement instead. -

Hi,
and done: Issue -
Also worth noting that OpenWeatherMap has an API that is really close in format. They have a guide on migrating:
-
openweathermap is already a provider of the default weather module.
Pirate Weather will come as replacement for Dark Sky with next mm release.
