Camera Access on PC (windows 10) based Magic Mirror Issue
-
Hello, I am absolutely new to the project and I am doing this project on my old laptop. I want to keep the windows around as there are apps which i cant get on Linux.
Here is the issue. My MM2 works absolutely fine on basic config file. I am unable to add any camera based module to the MM. configs dont throw any errors and even with camera modules installed and configed properly, the camera feed doesnt show up on MM. The laptop is a Surface Pro 3 with inbuilt camera like most laptops.
Any one has any exp in this? i will be really greatful. technically i am not making an actual MM but just taking on the tinkering challenge and i am at the edge of the rabbit hole. hoping to drag someone down it.

@sunilstark most of the modules (maybe all) that deal with video use linux only support to stream the camera feed

This module will work with USB cam.

@sdetweil thats a bummer. i was really hoping to use my inbuilt laptop camera as the feed. Is there a PC only forum space where i can get help?
-
@sunilstark no special grouping for windows users.
technically, this forum is supporting the base runtime. modules are supported by their authors.

@sunilstark one of my modules, MMM-SleepWake, uses a camera for motion detection… well, it uses a system library (the motion project) to report motion events, but does not have a windows version…
