I’m confident there are some knowledgeable individuals here. I’m constructing a smart mirror that operates on a Raspberry Pi and a touchscreen display. I intend to cover the display with a two-way mirror, either film acrylic or thin glass. The touchscreen I’m using is capacitive, and I initially attempted to purchase two-way mirror film, but it contains excessive metallic content and interferes with the touchscreen. I’m aware that people employ IR frame sensors, but I’m specifically trying to use a 7-inch touch display for a small-scale setup in my bedroom. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve a mirror effect while still maintaining touch functionality?

@blank2014 Are you hoping to retain touch through the mirror? Or is the issue that the mirror film is giving spurious inputs to the touch screen?

@blank2014 generally no. as you are placing a glass/plastic piece over the touch screen. with reflective material on the backside

the glass/plastic cover will eliminate/deflect the capacitive signal used by most touch screens

@sdetweil I know they make mirror screens protectors for phones and tablets I was curious if you could get something like that

@blank2014 yes, the technology is different, but i doubt anyone has done that. i haven’t seen mirror, but have seen angle sensitive screen covers on phone
