Not a mirror but a family dashboard for the kitchen. Inspired by DAQBoard, frame designed by my wife, built by me, coded by me.

Modules used:

• MMM-CalendarEXT3
• Clock
• Weather
• MMM-AlexaControl
• MMM-Wallpaper

Features:

• 24-inch monitor
• PIR sensor so it turns on when you walk up to it
• 6 google calendars displayed
• Say “Alexa, turn on next month” which advances the calendar 5 weeks for 1 min then switches back
• Rotates wallpaper every 10 min with photos of our most recent family vacation

Build pics:

all these modules and all these guides you can find online all fail to tell you that at some point a kernel or driver update broke vcgencmd and tvservice commands for the newer pis or Rasberry OS. I spent so many hours making mine work.

xrandr --output HDMI-1 --off

xrandr --output HDMI-1 --auto

these worked for me, maybe they’ll work for you, I dunno.

So im trying to wrap my head around wether this is possible or not. I’m using MMM-calendarext3, in the notes I see

CX3_GLANCE_CALENDAR, payload: {instanceId, step}

and

CX3_SET_DATE, payload: {instanceId, date}

I also understand Alexa control can send alerts to other modules. I’m not sure if I’m misunderstanding these features. can someone detail a high-level overview of how this might work, if at all?

in the end, I would like to be looking at my calendar and say Alexa show November. the view would switch the month for a min and go back to the default view. Thank you kindly.

Thank you for the overview. It really helped me wrap my head around it. i got it working the way i like. After getting MMM-Alexacontrol working i added this to the config section of the AlexaControl module in config.js

Search for new devices in the Alexa app, it should find “next month”. I have my calendar in week mode showing six weeks. I say “Alexa, turn on next month” and it advances the view 5 weeks(i might change it to 6) , stays there for a min then goes back to the default view.

works! my syntax was correct. i think having the folder of .jpgs outside the MMM-CalendarExt3 folder was why it wasn’t working.

How would I target cells for holidays that don’t fall on the same day every year? Is there a way to target the 328th day of the year?

your example works as you posted it. but if i want to target a local file as a background image for a specfic day. i cant get it to work. any HTTPS: i use works fine. i feel ive tried every variation i could find online. What’s the proper way to do that in calext3? thank you.

SO…the config example text was throwing me off visually and I was missing a comma. rookie move… marking solved

im just trying to make my images more colorful by getting rid of the grayscale .5. Is the filter option broken for anyone? Maybe post your code from a config where its working? thank you.
