@ProtoBn Regarding what Pi you want is pretty much depending on what you intend to run on it.
If you intend to primarily run text-based information then any of the newish pi will do (2-4), but if you want to run animations, video etc etc the faster the better.
It would be mostly calendar, grocery list, but I would like to implement google assistant, a Philips hue controller, weather, pictures
And you don’t really need a pi either, any type of computer that can run Linux will do the trick. (I think Windows is also an option).
The thing is that It will be away from my desk and on the wall so I’m looking for something really thin.

Newbie Incoming !!!!
Good afternoon everyone,
My name is Ben aka ProtoBn.
I’m a video editor and as I’m working as freelance I would like to create a MagicMirror where I could put all my deadline calendar and all the work’s info but I also want to put on it my shared calendar with my wife and the grocery list and everything. So I have nothing, maybe 1 or 2 monitors hanging around but no raspberry pi to start with.
I saw in a lot of discussion people having either a PI3b+ or a Pi4. What’s the difference ?? I mean I guess that the Pi4 is “better” but is it a real game-changer?I don’t want to do a “mirror” for the moment maybe later as an upgrade. If I need a mirror I’ll a webcam and should work great XD
So what would be necessary to buy a kinda good “starter pack”?
Thanks all for the time and the help
Ben
