Hello
My name is Rick Robinson. I am retired and live in Virginia USA.
I have an idea for an educational tool based on two projects developed by Michael Teeuw.
It would combine parts of the Magic Mirror and parts of the MusicCubes project.
The basic plan would be develop a low cost system to aid pre-verbal children and children with learning challenges to learn letters, names and numbers.
Using the MusicCubes allows young children to use simple physical objects (the cubes) as the user interface to the Mirrored Display.
The mirror display would be partitioned into three areas. The right area would display the picture associated with each cube face, and speak the name of the object. Further a short video would also appear on the left partition. Ideally it would a video of the parent(s) of the child also speaking the name of the object while using a sign language to visually sign the name. The center of the display would remain blank so the child can see their reflection and their mouth as it forms words. Thus the device would aid children with both learning and hearing challenges.
I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this idea. I am new to this and have tried to learn to code but I am not making much progress. I don’t think most of the modules in the MagicMirror system would be needed.
So I am hoping this could become a subproject as it will not contribute directly to the MagicMirror as a module. I am seeking help to show me how to make this an Open Source project.
My grandson has both of these learning challenges and I am seeking a method to help him. It has the potential to use teach any language and more advanced topics such as counting and simple math.
Any recommendations would be most welcome.
Kind regards
