    • RE: mmm-moon-phase not showing pictures

      Hi Mykle1,

      Sorry for the late reply…

I haven’t changed anything, it just happened all of a sudden.
      This was with https://github.com/spectroman/mmm-moon-phases

I wanted to clone the module from scratch, to make sure that nothing is corrupt in my ‘modules’ directory, so I went to the modules page and searched for ‘moon’. The first hit was another module (https://github.com/NolanKingdon/MMM-MoonPhase) but I haven’t realized it until I loaded it :).
I like this even better, so at the end I haven’t investigate what went wrong with the other one.

      Thanks anyway,
      Tamas

    • cover the back of plexiglass (acrylic sheet)

I am in the middle of my 1st MM project. Components are selected with ‘keep it low budget’ in mind, as this is an experiment.
So I am using plexiglass/acrylic sheet as the mirror (https://www.pyrasied.nl/en/product/spy-mirror/).

I am wondering what would be the best way to cover the back side of the plastic?
I am planning to do it just to make sure I have the best reflection on the places where there is no monitor.

I think I have these options:

      1. do nothing, leave it how it is, will work fine.
It is a frameless mirror (the frame is actually smaller than the mirror), so I need to cover the edges of the mirror, because there is nothing behind it. It is 2-3 cm.

      2. use paper
Because it is frameless, I will have difficulties to attach the paper at the edges. I am afraid the paper will not stick to the plastic (why would it stick to it?), and if it is loose, it will not do what it suppose to do

      3. use glass film
        something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Total-Blackout-Window-Film-Prevention/dp/B071HLNG14
I like this idea. If something goes wrong, I can easily remove this film. It is also easy to cut a window on the material for the monitor before attaching.

      4. use paint
Might be option two. Problem is to make that window for the monitor. Not impossible, but needs some preparation

So I would go for option 3), but before investing, I would appreciate some feedback. Have you guys cover the back of the mirror at all?

      Thanks and happy MM-ing :)

    • mmm-moon-phase not showing pictures

      Guys,
Anyone gave issues with the moon-phase module? Since 2-3 weeks I see only a very tiny part of the actual picture. It is in the top-left corner…

How do you troubleshoot a module, by the way?

    • RE: Raspberry pi detects hdmi but there is no output on monitor

I had similar issues, but with a DVI input on a monitor.
For me at least the rainbow screen was showing sometimes, but often also not.
After tons of different settings in config.txt (which didn’t solve the issue) and different hdmi-dvi cables, I ended up reinstalling Raspbian. After that I got the screen working again.
The only thing is that there is no red color on my monitor. Tried different power supplies, cables and certain settings in config.txt, none of them fixed my red color missing issue.
      But that is another story…

Give it a shut to reinstall. Don’ t forget to save data as reinstall is wiping the sd card.

    • RE: Let’s talk frames!

Why a laptop, instead of a RPi?
      More heavy (need stronger frame),
      More noise (from laptop fans)
      More power consumption ($$$),
More heat => need proper ventilation,
Windows => I guess you cannot use the MM framework

    • RE: Acrylic or Glass mirror - pros and cons for each option

      Hi Serge,

I am also in the same struggle: Acrylic or glass for a bathroom.

I’ve read the article you have linked, but it is not mentioning exact sizes. Just small, medium and large. But yeah, define ‘medium’…
Where does this 600x600mm as max size for acrylic came from, if I may ask?

On top of this, this example is about a 1000x700mm mirror where acrylic was used. Not for bathroom, true, and you can see some distortion at the places where the mirror is attached to the frame. But I don’t see any issues with the edges, which, regarding the article, should be a problem for the acrylic.

So to summarize, I think I will got for a 500x700 borderless acrylic for my bathroom, as my first MM.
