Trying to build a magic mirror on a budget and I came across this.

    https://www.amazon.com/Window-Film-Mirror-Silver-12in/product-reviews/B00FQPGH8I/ref=cm_cr_dp_see_all_btm?ie=UTF8&reviewerType=avp_only_reviews&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=recent

Just to clarify, if I do buy this, I just need to apply the film on the outside of a glass panel right? My goal is to get a shadowbox of some kind too.

I have never tried the stuff but the consensus on this forum is to stay away from them if you can.
This site has 8x8" for $.95 and 12x12" for $16.00 That is not a typo the 8x8 are scrap and the 12x12 have to be cut from a full sheet. I have no affiliation with them other than thats where i get my glass from
      http://www.twowaymirrors.com/smart-mirror/#1474306476063-3e85827a-990e

Keep in mind that if you have a camera that you want to work from behind the mirror that there are different types of glass. They differ on the amount of light they let through. Read through the above site. Even if you dont buy from them they have good info.

      Check ebay as well.

Thanks for your reply. How did you get the
        12x12" for $16.00 ?
I entered 12 and 12 and put it as 1/8" thickness and it’s stating that it is $60 bucks.

Ah I only see the 8x8 samples, the 12x12 might have run out I guess.

@nuckinfutz Ah I found it, is this the one you are talking about?

              http://www.twowaymirrors.com/product/12″-x-12″-dielectric-mirror-sample/

Will this work for a magic mirror?

Actually no it’s not. Send them an email and tell them you would like a 12x12 sample of Vanity vision. I started using them before they even knew what a Magic Mirror was. They seem to have jumped in with both feet and changed the site and some pricing.

I just used this mirror film on my project yesterday. After watching how-to videos and other guides, I found it impossible to get perfect. Every tiny speck of dust or hair on the mirror shows up; it’s impossible to get 100% clean prior to application. I tried three different times and each time there were still specks of imperfection around the edges.

I will definitely be buying mirrored glass next time instead.

Perfect, thanks! I just received my 12x12 sample! Going to try it out! Is there a specific side for the mirror? As in which side faces the outside?
