So I have been having issues with installing MagicMirror software onto a Raspbian image, and I realised that MM has an OS. I downloaded the image, installed it and it comes up with a black screen. I can see a cursor when I move the mouse, but I cannot get on terminal, or make any setting configs. After months of trying to make my own magic mirror, I am about to give up and crawl into a corner and cry in a fetal position because I cannot find any solutions to my problems. Pls help!

I have tried this, I cannot get docker to work, and if I am able to get docker to run at all on literally any OS, I can never get it to run any type of script at all.

I have been at this for months. No script will run at all. I think it has something to do with my internet. But I am at my whits end. Scripts will not work no matter what tutorial I try to use. I have tried this script a couple times. Literally nothing is working. And I have reached out to buy an SD Card that someone has already created with Magic Mirror working and configured, but no one seems to want to sell one.

@barenakedchicken and u have bad internet there? I am from farmington, a mere 30 miles east of you.

UofM should drag the best internet to your location.

                    everything MagicMirror requires internet

You’d think, but I live on a farm. As a network engineer, I have exhausted all possibilities of any kind of broadband and fibre service here. We have satellite on one side of the property and LTE on the other side. Satellite just sucks, and the LTE is at 1 bar.

Are there no offline modules I could use? I’m literally trying to create a local bulletin board to put out in the barns, not exactly a mirror

@barenakedchicken you could write a module that reads from the local SD disk space… course without network support you will have to find a way to update… maybe usb stick as disk,

I tried flashing magicmirroros. I managed to get ssh running and the wpa_supplicant to get on the wifi. All I get on the console is a blank screen.

As I was unable to get anything to work, I tried updating using sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts but it says the pi zero is not supported.

                                I’m completely lost now.

@eracerhead said in MagicMirrorOS starts up with blank screen:

sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts but it says the pi zero is not supported.

u just reply yes, it keeps going… MM does 'support’s Pi3 and 4 now… but I make it work other places

u don’t need MM OS… just flash Raspi OS Buster, run my script…

Do you know if there a way to provide the Raspi OS with the WiFi SSID and password without logging into Raspi desktop environment? Like in a text file or so?

@sdetweil Thank you. I was looking for a solution to provide SSID and password upfront, so no interactions are needed and Raspi can connect to your WiFi right out from the start.

@Dimasua nothing built in. U have to at least edit or creste a file…u could do that after u flash the SD card. Before booting it
