    Hey guys,

I’m trying to get one of the PIR sensor modules to work however I’m running into the scenario where once the monitor has been successfully turned off, it turns back on after a few seconds and the “Check Signal Cable” widget starts floating around the screen.

I’ve tried both the MMM-PIR-Sensor and MMM-NewPIR modules and both run into the same issue a few seconds after the screen is turned off. I’ve tried the preventHDMITimeout config for MMM-PIR-Sensor but that doesn’t seem to help.

I have a feeling the monitor’s analogue on/off switch might be overriding the raspberry pi but that’s just a theory. The monitor is a Samsung S24B370 and I’m using the HDMI input.

Would anyone happen to have any tips?
    Cheers

@d0zza the monitor is energy star compliant, and is warning you that it will turn off if no input is received on 15 minutes. you cannot change this

but this means the module turned off the hdmi port and not the monitor.

as I posted in discord, there are different commands that do different things

      tvservice, vcgencmd, dpms, and cec-utils

if your monitor is also cec compliant, software can turn it off and on.

none of my monitors can be controlled w software, so I end up blanking the screen by hiding all the modules
