Use the Raspberry PI for MagicMirror and as NAS (OpenMediaVault) simultaneously
-
Hello,
I’ve set up my MagicMirror a while ago. Now I came across this possibility to use the Raspberry Pi as NAS (Network Attached Storage). But in all tutorials (for the NAS program openmediavault), it’s said that I need to flash the openMediaVault.iso to my micro SD card. By that, my Raspberry Pi’s MagicMirror System would stop working right ?
Now I’ve seen this other way of installing a NAS program to the pi: https://ittweak.de/raspberry-pi-nas-server-datei-server-einrichten-mit-samba/ (using samba and without a need for SD cards).
Now I thought it might be a good idea of asking before. Is it possible to use the pi as NAS and magicmirror simlutaneously ? Has anybody made experiences with something like that ?
I’m thankful for any advice!Best Regards,

It is definitely possible to run multiple services on the same pi, as long as the pi is powerful enough.
You mentioned the NAS software has its own .iso - if you used that you’d then have to install magicmirror on top. You may come in to some conflicts there and have to tweak, but definitely worth a shot.
Or if you start with your magicmirror install it is fairly simple to expose a shared folder to the network and have the pi act as a NAS also.
Good luck!
