      @richard238 thx…

      looking back thru the topic, the

      Module.createRequire is not a function is because of downlevel node.
      the eslint library depends on node 14+ for that to work.
      (from npm run config:check)

        @richard238 if you haven’t deleted yet, can u try something

        because you did

        pi@magicmirror:~/MagicMirror $ npm init -y

        in the mm folder, instead of the module folder, this overwrote the shipped package.json

        so,

        do

        cd ~/MagicMirror.save
        git checkout package.json
        rm -rf node_modules
        rm package.lock.json
        npm install --only=prod

        then stop good mm if running and then do , in the MagicMirror.save folder

        npm start

          That’s given a very basic, but working MM

          pi@magicmirror:~ $ cd ~/MagicMirror.save
          pi@magicmirror:~/MagicMirror.save $ git checkout package.json
          pi@magicmirror:~/MagicMirror.save $ rm -rf node_modules
          pi@magicmirror:~/MagicMirror.save $ rm package.lock.json
          rm: cannot remove 'package.lock.json': No such file or directory
          pi@magicmirror:~/MagicMirror.save $ npm install --only=prod

              That’s working good too.

              Do I keep MM, or MM.save?

                  renamed MM to MM.JAN22

                  renamed MM.save to MM

                  All good, thank you.

                    @richard238 glad to hear it…

                    i opened an issue in MagicMirror to document the original problem and the resolution.
                    https://github.com/MichMich/MagicMirror/issues/2772

                    and updated the black screen Troubleshooting topic to be clearer about that problem fix process, and how to recover
