Update MMM
-
@mattx38 no issue… the ‘default’ instructions don’t consider all the other things that will break.
even my upgrade script does not handle these problems… as they are so module specific…
my french is a LOT worse than your english!..
-
Ok I understand.
I saw a message on the Remote Control module github and it seams there is also a problem with it after the MMM update.My MagicMirror was running as a charm till this update. I saw the alert on the MM screen so I did it… what a shame
-
It is still running, but nothing changed into the terminal.
After the command “npm install --save-dev electron-rebuild” I had this message :- electron-rebuild@1.10.1
updated 2 packages and audited 822 packages in 16.302s
3 packages are looking for funding
runnpm fundfor detailsfound 9 low severity vulnerabilities
runnpm audit fixto fix them, ornpm auditfor detailsShould I run “npm fund” and “npm audit fix” before launching the second command ?
- electron-rebuild@1.10.1
-
@mattx38 no, those won’t help anything
-
@mattx38 did u disable pir-sensor?
are there still problems (dev window, terminal window?)
-
Yes I disabled it.
Can I run a new Putty window while the rebuild of Assistant is running, to check ? -
@mattx38 sure

@mattx38 i’m sorry, now out of my depth of solutions… you’ll have to get @Sean (MMM-AssistantMk2 author) involved…
-
Ok, thanks for your help so far.
The rebuilding is not done yet ; still running. -
Rebuild is done for the Assistant. The MM is launnching again. I didn’t try to activate it by saying “Jarvis” (everyone is sleeping at home).
I put PIR module ON, black screen again, and still this error :
[2020-04-01 23:30:25.054] [ERROR] WARNING! Could not load config file. Starting with default configuration. Error found: Error: The module ‘/home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/MMM-PIR-Sensor/node_modules/epoll/build/Release/epoll.node’
was compiled against a different Node.js version using
NODE_MODULE_VERSION 64. This version of Node.js requires
NODE_MODULE_VERSION 73. Please try re-compiling or re-installing
the module (for instance, usingnpm rebuildornpm install).EDIT : So I did a “npm install” into the MMM-PIR-Sensor folder, and now it works again.
A very big THANK YOU to YOU !!! -
@mattx38 cool. My update script would have fixed PIR problem. But not assistant or hotword
-
HI all I’m getting the following message on my MM screen “MagicMirror2 update available” then underneath “The current installation is 2994 comments behind on the master branch”
Anyone know how to resolve this issue?
-
@Peter-Leemon run my update script from here
-
@sdetweil run the first script?
-
upgrade-script.sh will do the git pull and npm install, and refresh npm setup for any modules that might need it it should handle all the work… and give you a trial run of all that… only applying changes if u request them give it a try this works on Mac as well bash -c "$(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts/master/upgrade-script.sh)" no changes are made to the local repo or the working copy if you WANT to actually apply the changes do bash -c "$(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts/master/upgrade-script.sh)" apply there is a log file (upgrade.log) in the MagicMirror/installers folder… -
@sdetweil said in Update MMM:
bash -c “$(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts/master/upgrade-script.sh)”
sorry a noob here do i run this in terminal?
-
@Peter-Leemon yes, stop MM first of course
-
when I paste bash -c “$(curl -sL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/sdetweil/MagicMirror_scripts/master/upgrade-script.sh) i get no such file or directory
-
@Peter-Leemon dang forum, change the " to wrong character… copy/paste it again
need the trailing quote too
