Completely New to MM; Looking for direction
-
Hello,
My name is Craig and I have been an IT Professional for over 22yrs, I have mainly worked in the Support Area of IT (Hardware/Software/Networking/Various OS’s). I know nothing about programming and never attempted to learn since I started in the IT Field programming was no where close to how far it has come as it is today. Back then I’d see programmers spend MONTHS working on a program and go to run it and have it crash all due to a missing comma, or something as little as that! So it never interested me, the closest I come to programming would be writing complex batch files lol which isn’t really programming.
Anyways with all that said; I am really interested in Magic Mirror (Setting up a smart wall using Raspberry Pi 4 & Magic Mirror) setup with a bunch of the Modules that are currently available for it.
So my question is, what do I have to learn to fully understand MM and be able to add and setup Modules easily? I have access to just about every type of CBT’s for just about every Programming Language, but I just need to know what I should learn so I will be able to setup and configure MM along with any Modules I choose?
BTW I don’t even know HTML, which if I had to guess about what to learn I would say HTML & Java maybe? I am looking to setup a MM almost exactly like the New Samsung Smart Fridge have built into the Right Door. I have been working some setting up something like that for quite a while but lack the programming knowledge to create it. And the only products I have found out there that come even close is “DakBoard”, which I know I could run a DakBoard created OS off the raspberry pi 4 but it requires a subscription to truly have access to most of the features I want.So please if anyone can let me know what I should learn to be able to work with MM I would be great full! I am also looking for any good Discord Servers for MM and Raspberry Pi as well.
Sorry this was so long, but I do appreciate the time anyone takes to actually read through and respond to my post.
Any and all responses would be greatly appreciated and again that you for your time and have a great day!

One of the biggest tips I can give you is to use @sdetweil 's modules and installers…
He’s on a mission to make MagicMirror as simple as possible.
Once you get the basics set up, you’ll see it really is easy as π

@bkeyport but u left out the fun…
scripts for install and update here

and as you are starting, try out my new config module, that makes editing config.js a thing of the past

also, read the two topics listed in my signature… at least you will get to installing modules…
