Amazing job!!! I too love the way you have recessed it into the wall. That is my plans for my kitchen display. I also love the way you took the TV apart. Do you have a specific resolution of TV?
Do you have any power buttons so you don’t have to take it off the wall?
But kudos you did an amazing job!!!

It was an old LG tv i had and dismantled it. It was actually slightly smaller than the mirror so what i did was got black bristol boardand used that to fill in the perimeter gap that the TV didn’t fill in as the TV was smaller than the mirror.
For power control, i realzied that if i left the power ON to the TV and unplugged the power cord and plugged it back in, the tv resumed to its previous state. Knowing that i put a Sonoff Basic (https://sonoff.tech/product/diy-smart-switch/basicr2/) inline on the power cord from the recepticle to the TV and flashed the sonoff with tasmota firmware.
With Tasmota on the Sonoff, it allowed me to control the power via MQTT.
This is all integrated into my OpenHAB setup to control ON/OFF. If you look on the shelf you will see a little temperature/motion sensor sitting ontop of the easter frame. This is a Ecobee Sensor.
With openhab i can retrieve if the room is occupied based on the sensor status (PIR) and turn the mirror ON or OFF. In the morning have openhab turn the mirror on before anyone gets up (6:30AM) so when you walk to the kitchen it’s already on and displaying the details. -
@python That was a great idea with a Sonoff. I just use a PIR sensor but the Sonoff would provide a cleaner install. I don’t use OpenHab but I do use HA and have some unused Shelly devices lying around.

I don’t want to paint the cabinets but if that’s the cheapest option, I may consider it. How much would it cost to stain the cabinets? Any other ideas to upgrade the cabinets? What about ideas for upgrading the kitchen? I am on a very tight budget (<$1000)
