Where to find Pi 3B+ or Pi4
-
Hi, I want to build a MM with my 11 years old son. A lot to learn and explore. I’m located in Canada and those Pi are nowhere to be found online. The 2 official Pi online Canadian resellers are BO… Ohhh, yes I can find some at 300-500 price range. I’m sure the regular prices are not that high.
Can someone pinpoint me in the right direction to start this awesome project?
Thanks

@Toeblake They’re nigh on impossible to purchase right now outside of ebay etc at scalpers rates. The good news is MM doesn’t necessarily need to be run on a Pi; there’s both other SOC boards or even older x86 hardware that would do the job even if it were only temporary, until supply improves.

@NSpr this is true I’m running mine on the Linux operating system

@Ray I’m running on a Chromebox under Gallium Linux, like this

You can always watch this site like I’m doing.

I’m another one running on something other than a Pi.
I’ve got a Xubuntu based media server, and it runs MM as well as the media centre software. I use an old Android tablet with a kiosk app to display the mirror around the house. The kiosk app lets the tablet load directly to a browser, set to the MM address :)

@sdetweil
Do you think a thinclient would be able to handle MagicMirror or at least debian bullseye? -
@plainbroke what is a thinclient in your terms?
