Hi,
I am new to smart mirrors and wanted to understand what the state of the art is for a DIY smart mirror.
Is it typically made with a raspberry pi, an open source OS, a flatscreen display, and a two way mirror?
Where are the best places to obtain this equipment?
Is it possible (and how much does it cost) to make a mirror that will replace my existing bathroom mirror (69" diagonal)?
Also, is it possible to make a smart mirror that is a touch screen?
Thanks so much for your help.

@raspberrypi9 I consider myself new and have designed on a pi. I am using a standard small monitor but I have seen others with photos as you describe.

@raspberrypi9 typically one needs a small computer to fit in a case on the wall. there are quite a few SBC (single board computer) capable.
yes to your components list. and wherever you can find them in your budget. mirror glass is the most expensive component .
i have wanted to cover my 55 in tv mirror, but $1000 incl shipping is out of the budget for that .
touch yes. they make ir frames that go around non-touch, and send mouse cricks to the app.
note: very little is touch enabled.
oh, and you do get fingerprints…,
