Hardware question
-
I have no Pi experience but I am a Linux professional. I see Mm works with pi 2-5
I also see posts regarding folks upgrading from 4 to 5
As I am a Pi rookie I have questions
What is the price//memory/mm performance sweet spot
Money difference is small but if a pi 4 with 1 gig is sufficient then I don’t need a 5 with 8 gigs
What should I buy?
-
@khrusher depends on what you want your MagicMirror to do
i recommend 2gig memory minimum

@sdetweil OK thanks, that sounds like I should get 4GB. While the site says Pi 2-5 are supported, I see some folks here migrating from 4s to 5s. What is driving that decision?
-
@khrusher today i would do pi5, and the nvme disk hat, with a small nvme disk
faster pi5
fast boot,
biggish disk vs sd card 256gb vs 64gb sd card
more reliable disk vs sd card
about $35 added cost -
@sdetweil thanks for your help. I have an idea here to start. looks like I have a lot of forum to read
