added touch support to MMM-ImagesPhotos
-
Hi,
My very old monitor died that I was using for mm. I picked up a new one that supported touch. I’ve been using MMM-ImagesPhotos for quite a while, and wanted to take advantage of my new touch display. So chatgpt and I hacked an update together. This allows tapping the screen to pause and swipe left or right to move forward or back through the list of images.
This required quite a bit of change and am not sure whether this should be a fork or pull request. I hoping @sdetweil could let me know which way to go.

@rts58 if the resulting support is an add on, old stuff works, new does too, then a pull request to the original source is best
If it’s really all new, then you should publish a new module of your own

@sdetweil okay, thanks Sam. I’ve just added some stuff for navigation and made some changes to support that. Everything should continue to work fine. So I will create pull request.

Here is link to the pull request if anyone wants to try out the changes. Clone with
git clone -b touchscreen-pr-clean https://github.com/rts58/MMM-ImagesPhotos.gitAside from the touch support, there are a couple of other changes worth mentioning. The original code selected a random image each time a new image was needed. Because I wanted to be able to move backward and forward through the slideshow, it now creates a one-time randomized playlist of all images. This ensures every image is shown once before any are repeated.
Navigation is also available via notifications. If you use MMM-RemoteControl, the app’s module controls provide Previous, Next, and Pause/Resume even without a touch monitor.

@rts58 very cool…
you can also use my MMM-CurlToNotification to send notifications from scripts…
