New weather provider: FMI Open Data for the built-in weather module
-
Hi,
I have published a new weather provider for the built-in MagicMirror²
weathermodule:MagicMirror² FMI Weather Provider
https://github.com/i-xul/magicmirror-weather-fmi-providerIt uses open weather data from the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) and does not require an API key.
This is a weather provider, not a separate MMM weather module. It uses the built-in MagicMirror² weather module and follows the server-side provider API introduced in MagicMirror² v2.35.0.
Currently supported:
- current weather observations
- daily forecasts using FMI HARMONIE data
- FMI weather symbols mapped to MagicMirror Weather Icons
- automatic day/night icon selection
- sunrise and sunset calculation
- daily min/max temperatures
- daily precipitation totals
- shared forecast requests between current and forecast instances
- retry handling for temporary FMI request failures
Tested with:
- MagicMirror² 2.37.0
- Raspberry Pi 4
- Debian 11 arm64
- Node.js 24.x
The provider is available as a standalone bundled
fmi.js, so installation does not require npm dependencies on the MagicMirror system.A screenshot, installation instructions and configuration examples are available in the README.
This is the initial v0.1.0 release. Feedback is welcome.
