So does anyone actually have a step by step directions on how to set this up? Sorry i’m a huge noob, and I’m lost (which is probably due to the noob part). I do understand this is a difficult set up, but i’m kind of hoping there might be a detailed guide on this or even a youtube video (including how Amazon Developer should be set up).

      EDIT:

I’m able to get to the auth request as most people, and I get the error: We’re sorry!
An error occurred when we tried to process your request. Rest assured, we’re already working on the problem and expect to resolve it shortly.

I understand this could either by my settings, or something on the amazon side, but has anyone gotten past this recently? Or is there another module I should be using?

First I’ve to say awesome work @dolanmiu ! I’ve installed as described in your documentation. For auto start I’m still using PM2 with the mm.sh script and can’t get the wake word to trigger. ALSA ist configured and recording. Any ideas what could be the problem? Do I have to get rid completely of PM2? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Well dang. I’m doing something wrong here. Whether I use the helper config or the tool above, I get a broken error page.

And I know an error page is expected, but it’s not a long url with a code in it.
                  It’s like… amazon.com/wpa

                  and that’s it.

Was the right choice “device with alexa built in” and “no companion app” ? I figure I must have done something wrong on the Amazon developer page, since that’s the part with no guide and it’s working for other people.

                  Hey
did you get it working. I am stuck at the same spot.

                  Thanks

@berne No, its just telling you what the amazon site is doing, you only need the top portion.

                        2nd hand guide

and of course in your normal regular guide…
i have testet my microphone and my speaker… everything is okay. but when i set up the config and a try tu say something… NOTHING works.
even with wireshark i dont see, that everything is trying to do something.

Okay, little Update, why i think the module dont work.

                          I saw that the part:

                          rm -rf node_modules
                          npm install nan --save
                          npm install node-pre-gyp@0.12.0 --save
                          npm install
                          npm run prepublish

                          throws some erros:

Hi @dolanmiu awesome job with the Alexa I must say!!

I have set it up however I think it’s behaving weird or I am missing some bits and pieces to make it work! I’ve added MMM-NowPlayingOnSpotify and google calendar however when I try to ask Alexa to add event on the calendar or to play Spotify it has no idea, what am I missing here, please let me know what logs I can provide to troubleshoot!

                                Cheers,
                                Vlatko

                                    Hey Sam!

Thanks for coming coming back on this! Well I must say I was thinking the same that it could be due to something like that and the name of the Spotify module says it all doesn’t it :)

I was tricked by this video on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7wqm8h3PnA
He didn’t mentioned anywhere how he controls Spotify, so I assumed Alexa somehow knew how to reach spotify and the module just to display the now playing.

So I need client is what you say right?
And about the calendar I already gave alexa rights through the Alexa app on my android phone but the funny thing is that when I go to devices it says that it’s offline?

                                    Cheers,

And about the calendar I already gave alexa rights through the Alexa app on my android phone but the funny thing is that when I go to devices it says that it’s offline?

alexa rights through the Alexa app on my android phone
rights to what? again, the local ‘calendar’ is a read only copy of a cal somewhere else…
                                      maybe on google?

offline? that is between alexa account(cloud) and google (cloud)
has nothing to do with mirror app

I rechecked and resynched my google calendar with my alexa account…
and then using my echo asked alexa to add an event to my calendar and it worked and shows on the mirror calendar display…

                                      Sam

@vlatko_jordanov I am trying to set this up but my brain cannot figure out what I am supposed to put in as the return url in the AVS setup…

my device is not known outside my home.
i can use my public url redirect to make it known

                                        localhost doesn’t work

my public return url DOES get a callback into my browser, but there is no ‘web page’ served at that url… so it ‘times out’…

the setup app doesn’t use request to MAKE a web server there… (I have had to do this on other oauth apps…)

edit: DOAH… read the instructions!!! lol… it is EPEXCTED to FAIL to connect… read the text from the failing url

got that… BUT then next step fails for me…

Enter your Authorization code (from previous step): ANMJShcLPpSKjJkKLbzj

                                          Hi Sam,

Alright that’s cool I think I’ve put my question wrong, is it possible to have the mmm-awesome-alexa (standalone app) linked with alexa(cloud) without owning any amazon echo dot in my household i.e. the rapsi to be my first and only device with the awesome-alexa module? :)

I did heard that from a friend that his echo dot couldn’t be seen from the WAN side but he could still drop in and announce messages to it which I believe is using different callback settings/ports than the actual device communication, haven’t gone into details as yourself but that’s good to know :)

                                          Thanks,
                                          Vlatko

@vlatko_jordanov sorry. I do not know if u can have mirror BE a full function Alexa node. It seems that should be possible, as I have an automobile Alexa.

Now, can this module do all that?

                                            Don’t know
