Yesterday i’ve got the MySpiegel.de mirror. I’m satisfied!

It is still packed in foil because the frame did not arrive, yet. So i will show pictures of it soon.

I’m also use one from myspiegel, they were very friendly and reliable. I’m satisfied with the result, will maybe post some pics when I’m done with the frame.

            Hi,

I am also using a glass from myspiegel.de.
Built the mirror quite some time ago, almost 2 years by now.

I’m satisfied with the glass, but indeed it looks “darker” and a bit more grey than a standard mirror.

              @thk That looks great!!

Kindly apologize, seems like the link was not really working:
              http://www.pilkington.com/de-de/de/produkte/produktkategorien/spezialglaeser/pilkington-mirroview

That’s probably the best possible option, since it’s advertised to be used with TVs and screens. Have you already asked them how much that mirror costs?

EDIT: I just found a youtube video displaying the 50/50 version for high ambient light… that looks really good imho!

                I found something else: http://www.glas-per-klick.de/spiegel-antikspiegel/spionspiegel.html
since the small one (20x30cm) is pretty cheap I’ll just order one and try it out. I’ll keep you posted.

I did ask Several glaciers in Munich for an offer of the Pilkington glass, however no one was able to provide an offer ( seems to be difficult to get a " Grosshändler" beeing able to sell this glass.

Kindly apologize for the late answer, I just received the mirror and the invoice last week and I was on travel for several days. I paid tremendous 120 Eur for the glass, however, I “just wanted” it and they were extremely friendly, I can only tell you that it is from Glass Fuess, 6mm thickness, I do not have more data, but I can tell you, it really looks great. Currently assembling the frame, will post some pictures latest in two weeks, Regards Stefan

No need to apologize, this is just a fun thing, we all have our real live and more important stuff to do.
Did they ship the mirror or did you have to pick it up your self?

                      Hi,

following your conversations since a few weeks, guess what ?! I have the same trouble in finding a two way mirror.
Thanks for all the helpfull comments, tough i still strougle to find a feseller that i can afford ;-) Today i was at a glazier, his answer was roughly 220€ for that kind of mirror in 60x60cm. Still trying to find alternatives online…

I came across this webpage and there was an interessting side note: “Smart-Mirror können mit Spionspiegeln nur bedingt erstellt werden, dazu sind schwach reflektierende Spiegel besser geeignet. Diese können von uns bestellt werden, unterliegen aber einem Mindestbestellwert.” (Quote: http://www.glaserei-kater.de/spionspiegel.html) Which translates roughly into: Spymirrors/two way mirrors arent the most suitable for a smartmirror, the best should be a low/weak reflecting mirror.

Any ideas about that ? First time I hear from that kind of mirrors and no real products to find on the internet under the phrase “schwach reflektierender Spiegel”.

@dbahn25 The UK Side you mentioned doesnt ship to Germany do they ?

A couple of weeks ago I found this link where several mirrors had been tested (German). The pros and cons are listet in detail and the test results seems to be comprehensible to me: https://glancr.de/development/test-spionspiegel-fuer-smart-mirrors/

Maybe that helps if somebody is in doubt in the right mirror material.
