@Sean thanks! I noticed a typo in MMM-Hotword config documentation it should be channel instead of channels. When I use channels both Hotword and AMK2 won’t record.

I am having an issue with getting this module to work. I get a blank black screen when my magic mirror starts up after I installed this module. I have looked over the config and everything looks fine (no missing commas or brackets). I am not sure what else I can do.

@aunrea start the developers window, with ctrl-shift-i on the keyboard, select the tab marked console at the top of that window, and scroll up to find any errors, usually red text

I just realized I forgot to reactivate the module. I quoted it out. Now it runs fine. I don’t know what was the issue before.

@otto your node version is downlevel…

                        please do

                        node -v

                        and

                        npm -v

@otto after u fix the node problem above, then redo the npm install in the module folder…
if there are still issues, then see the module installation instructions for the steps to resolve this problem

This message means you’ve missed/failed electron-rebuild step. read the docs and do that step again carefully.

@Sean do i need to reinstall it all, or can i just jump to electron-rebuild ?

I think if there is no other issue, just doing electron-rebuild be enough.

Raspbian Buster has gcc8 as default. Unfortunately with gcc8, grpc wouldn’t be compiled easily. so You need to downgrade to gcc7

                                        sudo apt-get install gcc-7
                                        sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-7 10
                                        sudo update-alternatives --config gcc

This may work to change current gcc version to 7.

In that case your gcc be version 7. check it with gcc -v (You probably downgraded global gcc to 7 already)
