What comes into your mind when someone says "calendar"? š¤

The reason I ask this is because, 9 times out of 10, Iāll see people talking about the tasks or activities which they have scheduled for the day, or the week. Like, I know there are meetings to attend for the busy executive, and childrenās soccer games and dramas to attend for parents, and they should have reminders for them, but should the calendar on the wall be clogged up with lists of such tasks? Nowadays, I see implementations of Magic Mirror here which donāt show the monthly calendar at all, and instead, just a list of tasks for the day or the week and maybe the time and the weather. And that might be enough for you if youāre trying to be minimalistic. There are other digital wall calendars like dakboard which do show monthly calendars, but more often than not, each of the day boxes put the day number in the smallest font possible and full the remaining space with the tasks, and the whole thing looks crammed and ugly! Cant calendars just have a monthly view of the days with a nice pic above or in the background so that it also serves as a beautiful piece of home decor without being so severe and professional or crammed to the teeth with tasks? What are your opinions?

I have pics in the background of ALL my modulesā¦ there are modules for that
as for how crammed the calendar days are, well, SOME of us have LOTS of things on our calendar (personal, family, kids, work, ā¦) not nice to cut off at noonā¦ and miss the rest of the days eventsā¦ rather drop friday from the list as seen todayā¦

@sdetweil how about animated backgrounds, like live wallpapers for mobile? Can we have them? Also, say, I want to change the fonts of the days and/or the colors, is that easy?

@aderoks animated, sure I guess soā¦ I donāt know of a module that does that now, if u think content is crazy, just wait til the background is animatedā¦
also cpu power is always an issueā¦
colors an fonts , sure , css can change any/all of thatā¦ nothing āsimpleā, but doableā¦

As Iāve said many times before a calendar is a list of dates in a readable format. An agenda is a calendar with activities.
Sadly, corporations have made the term extremely fluid, and as a result, we just call it all a calendar now.
But, yes, CalExt3 is the way to get a full size calendar, and MMM-Multimonth is a way to get a mini calendar with agenda marks, and MMM-CalendarExt3Agenda is how to get a list.
However you want is the beauty of MagicMirror.

@BKeyport exactly my opinion. I really donāt get why people say ālet me check my calendarā when they can say ālet me see my availability or scheduleā. The calendar is just the list of dates, arranged in a weekly and monthly grid, nothing more, nothing less.

@aderoks MagicMirror does not load modules on the fly, only at startup.
currently no module can change its view like that.(no swipe right for another month or year like on mobile)
| I see Ext3 can do āglanceā, but only thru the pre-configured data output by the default calendar moduleā¦
you could use mmm-pages to enable viewing a second predefined view, but two fixed definitions would have to be setup for startup time. -
@aderoks because the word ācalendarā has become the colloquial term for all the formal scheduling stuff.
and it now is separated from its physical presentation.
I can view it in many ways. but all come down to a moving window of time over the larger collection of time ordered entries.
hour, day, week, month, are all some time box boundary to view the data thru.
