A New Chapter for MagicMirror: The Community Takes the Lead

even though I’ve only been exposed to your project in the last year I thank you for all you’ve done. IF I’ve spent hours/days/weeks on my mirror I can only imagine what you’ve gone through. Again, thank you.
I always want to give a special acknowledgement to @MMRIZE & @sdetweil (and the others)
for their assistance and contributions to the community and myself. -

Thank you Michael for all of the work you have put into this project over the years. I came across it courtesy of the MagPi article (which I’m sure is how many people first encountered the project). Since first reading about it, I’ve built more mirrors than I care to remember, both for personal use, and for friends/family as well.
As an aside, it also introduced me to Git, which has resulted in me finally learning to code (more than 3 decades after I skipped all those classes at University :)
Enjoy whatever your future holds, and thank you once again.

Hello everyone!! Super excited about this open-source community! My Parents M-82, and F-79… They are having a hard time keeping their paper calendar organized, Dementia is kicking in… They are forgetting to update their calendar and even forgetting to write down doctor visits I made for them, I was considering DAKboard but, when I came across MagicMirror, I told my 15 y/o son (Who understands coding and Raspberry pi) let’s make them a mirror-calendar-interactive-syncable with everyone’s calendar-touchscreen, and a section for photos sent from us 2 hours away. And I can update their calendar from home. I’m super excited for my son and me on this project. We want to have a touch screen. Calendar interaction. weekly to-do’s and a random photo display. Any help is appreciated… Skills. I love woodworking, I’m computer savvy, and I like to build stuff. My Son is handy with computer repairs - I taught him, soldering, and thank god coding. Both he and I are self-taught through YouTube!!! LOL. Looking to build something in the 24 -27".

@Throbinskin very cool… now, all output is doable… but we don’t have any local (keyboard/mouse/touch) input driven modules. (create cal entries, add to shopping list, etc)
best is voice thru google assistant or a real alexa device.
add calendar entry and then it will show on wherever you choose to expose calendarthere are photo viewers, they take from google photos, … local files.
I have a module that can allow you to upload from your phone (via qr code)
(great for upload pics while visiting)you’ll need to either use a service like google photos or find you own file
transfer mechanism between systems… some of the NAS servers can run MM server mode
and provide file access services… (I am just spinning up a Synlogy NAS at home for all this)make sure you add some admin type access via remote…
see the Cloudflare tunneling which can provide vnc or ssh to the system without opening any ports on their netwokr or yoursuse docker as much as you can, then u don’t have all this software to install and maintain.

Thank you so much for creating this very useful and configurable software. You have created a legacy of an application which everyone was looking for. Wishes for all your endeavors and inspirations.
