npm info it worked if it ends with ok
    npm info using npm@5.0.3

    npm info lifecycle magicmirror@2.6.0~prestart: magicmirror@2.6.0
    npm info lifecycle magicmirror@2.6.0~start: magicmirror@2.6.0

    magicmirror@2.6.0 start /opt/magic_mirror
    sh run-start.sh

Have you read the readme of MagicMirror?

        Also note that:

npm start does not work via SSH. But you can use DISPLAY=:0 nohup npm start & instead.
This starts the mirror on the remote display.
