So I just finished making my first mirror and I am extremely pleased with the way it came out!

This project took me quite a while from start to finish and I learned a lot from this build.

Monitor is 23" and takes up the entire mirror

For the mirror I used 3/32" inch glass with Gila privacy film

      ~~ ~~

      Cost Breakdown:

      Raspberrry Pi - $39.00
      Monitor - Free (Letgo)
      Gila Film - $29.55
      Wood - $11.33
      Glass - $6.28
      Wood Glue - $3.97
      Stain - $4.48
      Metal Brackets - $2.27

      Total: $96.88

Overall, I am really happy with this price as I tried to make this project as cheaply as possible, so under $100 is really good.

Do you think it is ok without the glass? Only with the film.

@219jw Hinestly its not too bad.

You can definitely tell that its not a legit mirror, especially in low light.

But I think it was well worth spending $30 instead of like $80 for a real mirror. I’m interested to see how acrylic would compare.

                  Very nice.

Mine’s gonna be going into a bigger hole (filling in a passthrough that’s no longer used), so, I’m gonna be doing buttons on one side, but, I’m using yours as an example to the person cutting my wood.

                    @BKeyport Nice

I actually cut this frame out by hand which I wouldn’t recommend. At least invest in a $5 miter box and save yourself lots of time and frustration.
