MMM Google Photos error

having troulbe with getting the google photo running
i followed the github instruction but seem to be stuck with the black screen of death
npm start run displays

how did you install MM?
this means another instance is running…
if pm2 started one, then pm2 status will show you
then pm2 stop xx
where xx is the number or the name on the row of the thing u want to stop
(ps pm2 can run lots of things at once) -
EADDRINUSE got fixed the configurtion error remains

apparently i just needed to be patient, it needed to propagate
now its working
howevver the clokc and some other apps have disappeared
is there a way to have it be in the background, so i can see my clock and calendar?
