yeh, unlikely… none of my TVs support CEC, and all show the ugly no input screen if the hdmi port is turned off… not fun…

yeah. before building a frame and ordering the glass, it might make sense to buy a monitor instead that does support cec commands. any suggestions?

only a recent tv supports CEC, but NOT from all the devices connected to it, who are all running MM…
pi4 yes, pi3 no, jetson nano no, odroid nomy desktop is dvi -> hdmi, so no (the monitors are lg 29in from 2016, so no… )

Yep. I think I may just look for a second hand or cheaper computer monitor.
I just want to make sure the PIR sensor is compatible with it… -
@nneuland cheaper = older… so be careful. anything before 2010-2012 looks like its impossible to have.
the wiring was mandatory, but the firmware was optional.
my 2016 LG monitors do not have it. -
If you just care about turning the TV on and off you could use a relay that triggers the power button of the TV. @cruunnerr made a guide for PIR and relay setup.
