Can anyone revive AviationWX, PilotWX, or TAF

I am in the process of becoming a pilot and I would love to have the information these modules offer at a glance instead of having to look it up every time.
I tried, with the help of AI to update the code as I believe they were using the request fuction which is deprecated. I even tried to create a module from scratch which right now is a failure lol.
I am not the best at coding but if I can get a mentor I will definitely help keep the module up and running

From what I have been able to tell I have 2 options however, I think https://aviationweather.gov/data/api/#/Data/dataMetars is going to be the better source (the other one is avwx.rest which needs users to sign up and create a token to use). I can send you a token for avwx if you need.

@FSAHD is the problem just the use of request?
that can be fixed w very little code change -
@sdetweil that is what I believe it it, also what the AI helped me deduce.
I attempted to solve that but was unsuccessful. I believe that was the problem with all 3 modules I mentioned.
I tried using npm install request. that didnt work.
Then I attempted to update the code to use axios

changed. some has to be calculated (avg airport delay) or that info display deleted.too much work for me., given my avaliable time

@FSAHD I got the metar to work, then the faa data is all different not by airport request. and all the variable names have changed too
don’t know if the data is different for display
and the data is xml

there is a file of the output sent back from the node_helper( this morning) in formatted json (sample-data.txt)
so you can see the field names and values…
I marked in the MMM-aviationwx.js in getDom() where all this needs to be corrected with correct variable names and values…
as an example

I think I have all the variables updated. Im c urrently working on trying to get the dependencies to install on my pi so I can test.
You were a big help and I see where I went wrong in a lot of places when I was trying to build from scratch. It was a lot of simple mistakes lol

package.json has them all for the module
so npm install will do all for the moduleuse my install script for mm

I ended up getting this error.
I also don’t remember if I used your script for this instance of mm or if I installed manually if that makes any difference

npm uninstall requestand will remove request from the package,json. Else it will try to install it and you will run into the errors above. -

It downloads a now gz folder, with one xml file in it… I tried to use fetch and couldn’t get it to unzip the file in stream…

@FSAHD i just pushed a fix to package.json and a new postinstall script
git pull to get the updates…(watch out that it doesn’t overwrite your code)
then the postinstall script from the module folder./postinstallit will be called by npm install as well…
