Home made 60" touch Magic Mirror

Info sent by Pm that might be of interest …Quote …Just a standard clear 6mm wide led strip ,it goes in the frame where glass is supposed to go ,as the mirror is in and flush with the main structure on top of the tv cushioned with foam ,the type of foam used in camping ground sheets .tv is also cushioned in same material ,so no vibration gets thru to tv or mirror,I think 2 touch is fine for the software iam running and keeps it simple ,perhaps more than one person can sign their pictures at a time using higher touch ,but then you have half a dozen kids touching the screen at the same time ,yes it was the same price i got mine obviously its got to be toughened. The IR frames seem to work well driver free with windows 10 ,would’nt work with windows 7,make sure the tv has a good remote pick up .the cushioning should be cut away to expose the tv IR receiver so the remote can hit it thru the glass.Lap top has to be set to portrait when it detects an Hdmi output ,returning to normal when you switch the mirror off, start up laptop then tv .hope this helps,I got the 60" he has only 55" left http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seiki-SE55FO04UK-55-Inch-Smart-LED-1080p-Full-HD-Freeview-HD-TV-3-HDMI-New-from-/302303678580?epid=1360567275&hash=item4662b41074:g:~tcAAOSwiONYLJTW

Hello you did a very good job. I live in Istanbul and I do research to do the same. You can write the materials you use.
-
currently building a Magic Mirror booth as well…have the tv, IR frame, glass and camera…willing to share some construction photos?
-
No Probs here are some pics ,you can see the way i built the frame ,Cladded the ply with high gloss black formica ,use Bond It high impact adhesive ,dont leave glue to long as it grabs the formica ,mine has room for a cy printer at bottom, and shelf for laptop, its a heavy beast lol.

Amazing job Jim! It looks absolutely stunning!!! May I ask a few questions?
- Firstly could you help me to know where to purchase the glass from?
- Secondly, what material did you use to make the flight case, Astroboard? Or another material? 7mm?
- Lastly, your frame looks amazing! Is that possible to buy online?
Thank you in advance!
Martin

Hi Martin 70/30 mirror view from http://www.mirrorsandglass.co.uk
I used 7mm ply as that was what i had,no you must build your own frame ,i will try to post a pic of mine.

@scooter Thank you Jim. I’ve ordered my IR now but not sure about how to build a frame. Did you purcase the frame material from a website online that you could share? Thanks again in advance, very much appreciated for all of your help.

Hi Scooter, I hope you’re well.
I haveing a hard time trying to find the material to build a frame. I would like to build a frame like this one as shown here: https://www.photobooths.co.uk/product/white-silver-magic-mirror-frame/ however can’t find the material anywhere online! It is a very wide frame, approx. 90mm width (very much wider than normal photo frames).
Any idea where I can get a length of this material to make into a frame?
Any help massively appreciated!!
Thanks,
Martin.

Looks great scooter!
Did you use the Pilkington 6mm MirroView mirror or 6mm Two-Way Mirror?
Also is it possible to mount the camera behind the mirror?
Cheers!
-
@scooter is there anyway you can take pictures / close ups of the LED strip and frame. I just ordered my glass and IR frame curious how you put yours together.
also how do you secure the glass and IR fram in the back of the picture frame. thanks
-
@scooter did you write the software yourself?
-
Seems Scooter is MIA

Any updates ? I want to build my own Magic Mirror Photobooth, but It hard to find accurate info. Any help?
-
@scatha20 Got mine up and running…

-
@cyberphox that awersome!!! I am loving it!
My i ask you about the front? I ordered 60’’ mirror view 70/25 , i have 49’’ smart tv at home. But my biggest concern is the front. IR screen needs to go on the top of the mirror? Its only a frame? a foil? or a glass put inside IR frame place on the top of the mirror?
I am really confused.
Thanks -
@scatha20 Yes the IR frame goes on top of the mirror.
-
@cyberphox thank you, but to make it extra clear. IR frame with the glass or witout a glass?
If with the glass, what type and thickness of the glass can go there?
any chance you can provide any link to buy it?
