Glass/Acrylic/2-way mirror
-
Hello Everyone,
I am very new to the Magic Mirror Community and had a few questions about the Glass/Acrylic/2-way mirror material used.
For my “magic mirror” I have no need for the mirror capability, I just want to put it behind a piece of smoked glass or something to a similar effect. would that work at all or no?
IF it does work at all what would be the best option/solution to my problem.Any advice to a beginner about any thing would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so Much!

It doesn’t really sound like you have a problem at all. Some people have made “command centers” instead of mirrors. You don’t have to use a mirror at all.
Now, if you’re asking for an opinion about the smoked glass, I’ll give mine. You’ll want to make sure that the smoked glass allows enough light from the monitor to come through. If there is a way for you to test it before buying I would definitely recommend that. The smoked glass may make it too dimmed and it may not. It also might change the light coming through to brownish, or yellowish, and it may not. Perhaps you can get a sample to test with. If the glass is in a store you could bring a tablet/ipad and hold that up behind the glass to see if it is to your liking.
Anyway, that’s my thoughts on the subject

@Mykle1 That is super helpful thanks. I realized the problem of the light getting messed with by the glass but I couldn’t think of a way to work around that, but your idea of testing it out with an iPad or something is super helpful!!!

Or a laptop with MagicMirror running on it for an even better idea of how it will work/look
