Mirror Mounting Concerns / Ideas
-
Hey Everyone!
I made a mirror using a Samsung B2030 monitor (9 lbs / 4.08 kg) and an oak frame. I used framing nails to put the case together, will this be strong enough to hold the monitor in the case with no other support? Also, anyone have suggestions for mounting this? It has no back panel.
Thank you everyone!

should hold together just fine, a bit of wood glue never hurts however.
Depending on the thickness of the frame, I would go with either a keyhole or a french cleat.

I bought the thinest vesa holder and screwed it directly to the 19" Mirror. Since the Monitor is the thickest Part, that fitter well in my case

IMHO, I think using a french cleat is overkill, unless you want the mount to also be a showpiece of your entire project. That’s completely understandable. :-)
If you just want a mount that WILL hold and is easy and quick, find a stud in your wall, pre-drill a pilot hole and put a 3" lag bolt in. Unless your frame fails, that will hold you and your mirror. :-)

I also used wood glue, so I think the mirror frame should hold fine.
Thank you for your suggestions, I agree the french cleat is probably overkill so I’ll probably go with a keyhole or a lag bolt, depending on where I end up putting it. As a complete beginner this has been very helpful!
