      Hey Guys. Whats the Problem?

TypeError: Cannot read property ‘hash’ of null
      at /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/default/updatenotification/node_helper.js:68:31
      at Git. (/home/pi/MagicMirror/node_modules/simple-git/src/git.js:1482:10)
      at done (/home/pi/MagicMirror/node_modules/simple-git/src/git.js:1354:21)
      at ChildProcess. (/home/pi/MagicMirror/node_modules/simple-git/src/git.js:1379:16)
      at emitTwo (events.js:106:13)
      at ChildProcess.emit (events.js:191:7)
      at Process.ChildProcess._handle.onexit (internal/child_process.js:219:12)
MagicMirror will not quit, but it might be a good idea to check why this happened. Maybe no internet connection?

Whoops! There was an uncaught exception…

I get the same error message. I tried adjusting the reloadInterval-values, but it didn’t help much. Everything seems to work okay for a while, then after 8-10 error messages (appx 1-2 hrs), like the one above, MM suddenly shuts down. Haven’t started MM in debug mode, yet.

I run a newly installed system, with fresh & updated Raspian (4.9.59-v7), MM, and a couple of modules - none of which throws any errors on startup. (Modules: alert, calendar, clock, currentweather, newsfeed, weatherforecast, updatenotification, MMM-GoogleMapsTraffic, MMM-Nest and calendar_monthly).

@RoboDoc said in TypeError: Cannot read property ‘hash’ of null:

          at /home/pi/MagicMirror/modules/default/updatenotification/node_helper.js:68:31

line 68 in the node_helper of the update notification seems to check all modules on GitHub for updates, if i understand that correctly…

          So there are two options:

          1. Your mirror lost it’s wifi/internet connection. Maybe u could check on your router if the device had logged off from the wifi.
Or check the strength of the connection. Maybe take a look at the wifi_rebooter, as the wifi on the RPi 3 is not the best. So i installed an automatically wifi_rebooter here. U could try that as well: http://alexba.in/blog/2015/01/14/automatically-reconnecting-wifi-on-a-raspberrypi/
in my case my Pi pings my router address every 3 minutes and when it cannot reach it, it reboots it’s wifi itself.

          2. Some of the 3rd party modules has errors. But i don’t think so. To check it u could just run the default modules for a while
