install git on Synology NAS ?
in this thread is stated
Install git and clone the repository
can anybody tell me how to install just “git” not the whole “Docker-Gitlab” on Synology DSM 6.1.7 ?
Thanks a lot…
but i won’t install the whole GIT-Server !..
just “git” …
not to provide git Projects, just clone Projects locally…
@big11 - It’s basically a flavor of Unix, right? Does it include apt? Is there any reason why
sudo apt-get install gitdoesn’t work?
no one of the package tolls are installed !..
neither apt, nor ipkg or else…
so i tried before !..
git serveryou can use git commands.
I’ve tested on
DS214play - DSM 6.2.1-23824 Update 2
Maybe… or prety sure,
why to install a huge package if i do really Need just one part of it…
so the better way is how to get apt-get or ipkg getting on the synology…
@Big11 Here is the answer:
- Install the SynoCommunity package source
- Install ‘git’ using the package manager
- Now you can use ‘git’ commands from the CLI while SSHed into the Synology.
How to install SynoCommunity:
A. This guide here: https://sys-advisor.com/en/2017/11/05/tuto-synology-comment-ajouter-le-depot-synocomunity-2/
B: Google “add synocommunity to synology” it if that link becomes unavailable.
