  • Where to buy good two way mirrors ?

    Hi,

I am thinking of building my own magic mirror since at least a year now.
It does not seem very easy to order a two way mirror on Internet that could be shipped to France for a reasonable price. Does someone have any recommendations about where to buy such mirror for France ?

    Thank you

  • Test of a Mirona Semi-transparent mirror sample

    Hi everybody,

Just wanted to share with you my experiments about building my Magic/Smart Mirror.

It is not always easy to imagine what the mirror will look like before to order it. Therefore, I just get a sample of a 2 way mirrors from a french mirror maker (near West Paris suburb in France).

    Specifications are the following ones:

    • SCHOTT Mirona
    • Highly Reflective Grey
    • Semi-transparent mirrored glass
    • Thickness : 4mm (±0.2)

    Here are the pictures:

With a dark background and no screen behind in good brightness area.

With a screen behind and in good brightness area.

With a screen behind and in a darkest brightness area than before.

Several types of Mirona exists (Standard, Beamsplitter, High Reflective, High Reflective Grey…). Does someone already use one of them to build his own mirror? If so, could you please give me recommandations on the type to use?
Otherwise, I would be interested in your comments and advises about this Mirona mirror.

    Thank you. :)

  • RE: Present my MagicMirror

    Nice job! :)

I am also living in France. Where did you order your mirror in US please?
What kind of mirror did you order? Are you satisfied? Did you compare different types of mirrors before to order?

    Thank you.

    @Petal0u

    Hi,

I am also living in France and, for now, I did not find one. I asked to local shop but price was not very cheap. If you find one, I would be glad to hear about ! :)

    Thanks

Thanks to all for your answers and contributions.
Is there any recommandation about the best reflection and transmission ratio to use for such magic mirror ?
Sometimes, I had seen mirrors for which you can select different thickness. What are yours and what are the impact observed please ? Have you any recommandations about thickness of mirror ?
