@BKeyport Nice
I actually cut this frame out by hand which I wouldn’t recommend. At least invest in a $5 miter box and save yourself lots of time and frustration.

@219jw Hinestly its not too bad.
You can definitely tell that its not a legit mirror, especially in low light.
But I think it was well worth spending $30 instead of like $80 for a real mirror. I’m interested to see how acrylic would compare.
So I just finished making my first mirror and I am extremely pleased with the way it came out!
This project took me quite a while from start to finish and I learned a lot from this build.
Monitor is 23" and takes up the entire mirror
For the mirror I used 3/32" inch glass with Gila privacy film

Cost Breakdown:
Raspberrry Pi - $39.00
Monitor - Free (Letgo)
Gila Film - $29.55
Wood - $11.33
Glass - $6.28
Wood Glue - $3.97
Stain - $4.48
Metal Brackets - $2.27
Total: $96.88
Overall, I am really happy with this price as I tried to make this project as cheaply as possible, so under $100 is really good.
So I’m making my first mirror and I am trying to keep it as cheap as possible. I have decided that the cheapest options are either film to go over glass, or a two-way sheet of acrylic.
I currently have a 23" monitor and would like to make it full screen, so my dimensions are 13x22".
Would you recommend going with a film such as the Gila (link text) or this (link text)
or should I go with a two-way acrylic such as this: link text?
An recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
So I just finished configuring my first Mirror and this is what I have so far:
The monitor I am using now measures at 17" x 11" and I feel that it isn’t going to be very big/useful when it is mounted and all.
I am planning on hanging this in my dorm room, so I would like to be able to read the modules from a decent distance away.
I recently found a used 24" Dell monitor for $40, and also have access to a 32" TV.
Is going with a 32" overkill? I think that the TV may be way too thick to reasonably deal with and it wont be worth my time.
Overall, what are your feelings on monitor size? I dont plan on adding any more modules. Should I stick with my 11 x 17, go to the 24", or maybe find a 27" monitor?
I am open to any suggestions and orientations!
Thanks,
Eric
