    • RE: Introduce yourself!

Hi, my name is Torsten, 45, Single, no kids from near Kaiserslautern in Germany. I work as a computer technican for the Gouverment of Transportation.

I start building my MM in the covid-19 times, as i work in homeoffice and on evenings when its boring, because you can not go out or visiting your friends.

It was my second project with a Raspi (first was a Pi-hole Ad-filter)and im learning every day things about Linux, Raspi and the MM software. Im not sure, but i belive Im a bit addicted to the RasPi ;-)
I have a litte bit knowledge about html, css and php.

Im sitting my whole life in front of a PC, so in my age its time to do some other stuff:
In my free time im intrested about photography and when the weather is nice, i ride my motorcycle.

Great community here and i look forward what nice and fresh ideas are growing up here.

      Greetings Torsten

    • My Kitchencabinet Mirror

During the time Im in Homeoffice i search the internet about Raspi-Pi Projekts and so i found MagicMirror.

Im a man, without hair, an not much vain, so i stand not often in front of a mirror ;-)
My small apartment don’t have a big entrance hall and i live alone, so a “Mirror” was not a good choice for me.
But: I like cooking and Im often in the Kitchen, because it’s the central space in my apartment.
Thats the reason why the idea of an “Infotainment-Display” in the kitchencabinet was growing up in me.
There is not much “Wallspace” in a kitchen, so i want to integrated the Touchdisplay
      in the cabinet.
My good friend is a carpenter, so he would help me.

This Pictures are from the pre-assemply-phase.
In a couple of month, when the renovation of my apartment is finish, we will all assemble.
I show some Pictures when it’s all done!

      Partslist:

      RaspPi 4B 4GB with Rasbian on a 64GB SDCard

I want a fanless Pi-case, i make good expirience with this:
      Raspi is running at 49-52°C

      Waveshare 15,6" Touchscreen

      Modules:

      MMM-Pages
      MMM-Page-Indicator
      MMM-AlexaControl

      Page 1:

      2x Calender
      Weather
      Weatherforcast
      MMM-doomsDay
      MMM-Fritz-Box-Callmonitor
      MMM-Callmonitor-Current-Call
      MMM-WifiPassword
MMM-Touchbutton to go back to the Desktop

Im a Photographer, i want to show my Pictures, so i install a Slideshow of this in the Background
      MMM-Backgroundslideshow

      Page 2:

      MMM-Woldclock
      MMM-Networkscanner
MMM-iHaveBeenThere for the animated background image.

      Page 3:

      MMM-Fuel
      4x MMM-SingleStock
MMM-Globe for the animated background image.

In the bottom left corner I install a Button (via MMM-Touchbutton) to end the MagicMirror and go back to the Rasbian Desktop
There i installed a Touchkeyboard (Florence) and thus i have access to the Browser for a quick Internetsearch of recipes or something else.
To start the MagicMirror again, i have build-in an Desktopicon to startup.

I dont implementet a MP3-Player or something, because an Echo Dot is nearby and play my Music.

For changing the pictures or have access over the network a Samba-Server is running.

      Power-Down:
I like the idea, when Im away the Display go’s off to save energie. I built that with a script who looks every 20 seconds if my mobile is
connectet to my Wifi. If not, i switch a Wifi-PowerPlug to off. When im back again, to on.

      @mopedmann

Hi, the Css-Switcher is really the more comfortable way to do the change!

but, you don’t learn the basics of coding ;-)

Anyway, good to hear that it works in both ways.

      @mopedmann

Its not that hard as it seems.

A handfull of code that you have to write.

A good task to learn a bit about bash programming under linux.

Try the fist step, it would be helpful for the future…

    • RE: Is it possible to change the CSS layout at a certain time? (Dark Mode)

      Hi

maybe it is possible to write a script that rename the used .css in another filename (from custom.css to Custom.1) an after that, rename an other .css to custom.css. Packed this in an cronjob an you have a change of the .css files. After the rename routine restart the mirror…

Not the elegant way, but it can work’s.

Another Idea: Is ist possible to dimm the Display via a cronjob ?

    • RE: MMM-iHaveBeenThere : how to adjust zoom

      Hi

i have the same problem like @MrCoffee.

I want do display the whole Map, but i can not figure out how it works:

      zoomLevel: “0.8”,
      zoomLongitude: “50”,
      zoomLatitude: “50”,

are the best seetings i figure out.

      In the MMMihavebeenthere.js under:

      wrapper.style.width = “3840px”;
      wrapper.style.height = “2160px”;

i set the resoultion of the TV to 4k so the Map fit*s the screen

But it fit’s not 100% right.

I play around more the 1 hour withe the settings in the config.js
and can not finde better seetings.

Have anyone a idea to fix this and become a 100% view?

      Greetings Foxy

    • RE: MMM-FRITZ-Box-Callmonitor

      Hi,
First: everything works well, but i have some question about the devicefilter:

What do I have to register exactly there?

The Telephonnumber? The name of the “device”? The “intern number”?

I know that this works like:
the “devicefilter entry” filters, the incoming calls for this phonenumber, out.

In my case we have 3 DECT-Phones and i want display only one from this devices on the MM-Screen when the call come in.

Thank you all for your Support.
